Cadenzas for Flute Concerto in D Major KV314 by Mozart-Tillmetz, Bartuzat and Karg Elert-Zimmermann
Cadenzas for Flute Concerto in D Major KV314 by Mozart-Tillmetz, Bartuzat and Karg Elert-Zimmermann ( Mozart, W A: Kadenzen zum Flotenkonzert D-Dur KV 314 (285d) – Rudolf Tillmetz, Carl Bartuzat and Sigfrid Karg-Elert) All three movements contain a cadenza which initially would have been left for the performer to improvise. The cadenza of the flute virtuoso Tillmetz of 1914 shows his fondness for the music of the classical period. The Karg-Elert cadence was posthumously published in 1934, but the sales had to be stopped soon because his work was defamed as un-German in National Socialism. The Gewandhaus flutist Bartuzat finally wrote his own contemporary improvisation in 1949. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg 1756 and was a hugely influential composer of the Classical era. He began composing music at the aged of 5 and was a child prodigy. He was also extremely competent on keyboard and violin. He composed over 600 works including symphonies, chamber works, operas, keyboard works amongst a huge array of other works. Mozart composed works for flute including a concerto for flute and harp, a concerto in G Major and D Major, Andante in C and flute & string quartets.
