About
This exhilarating four-movement work by Widor is written in a classical/romantic style for flute and piano. A standard piece in the flute repertoire, this work is aimed at advanced-level players. Widor’s Suite for Flute and Piano was composed for Paul Taffanel (1844-1908), a fellow professor at the conservatory who established the famous French School of flute playing.
Charles Marie Widor
Charles-Marie Widor (1844-1937), was most famous for his organ music. He was the organist of Saint Suplice in Paris and a Professor of composition and organ at the renowned Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris. As a composer, he wrote 10 symphonies for organ, two operas, ballet music, and various other vocal, instrumental and orchestral works.
