Nikolai Platonov

Nikolai Ivanovich Platonov (1894-Date of death unknown) was a gifted Russian musician known for his talents as a flautist, violinist, and composer. He showed early musical promise and learned to play the clarinet and violin while attending school in Korochi. Despite initially studying law at university, his passion for music led him to pursue the flute at the Moscow Conservatoire.

Platonov’s musical career flourished, and he became a flautist in the prestigious Bolshoi Theater Orchestra. He also excelled as a teacher, serving at the Music College and Institute Gnesins, while earning a doctorate in art history. His love for music was instilled in him by his musically inclined family, and he began learning the piano from his mother at a young age.

Throughout his life, Platonov had a deep appreciation for nature, and he often sought inspiration for his music by playing the violin and flute in serene outdoor settings. His musical journey took him from Novy Oskol to Moscow, where he studied at the Conservatory and later returned to teach and compose. Platonov’s notable contributions include creating influential instructional materials for aspiring flautists.
