Peter Verhoyen
As a piccolo soloist of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Peter Verhoyen has established an outstanding reputation as a specialist on his instrument.
Collaborating with pianist Stefan De Schepper since 2006, he has curated various concert programs showcasing the piccolo as a captivating recital instrument. Peter’s commitment to contemporary Flemish music led to the commissioning of new works for the piccolo and the release of a series of acclaimed CDs, placing the instrument at the forefront.
Recognised for his expertise, Peter is frequently invited to give masterclasses and piccolo recitals at prestigious conservatories and flute festivals across Europe, the United States, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, and Australia. Alongside his performing career, he teaches piccolo at his private flute studio in Bruges, the Universität für Musik and Darstellende Kunst in Graz, and the Royal Conservatoire in Antwerp. Notably, Peter has developed the first piccolo master program in Europe, attracting students from around the world who have achieved success in international piccolo competitions and secured positions in renowned orchestras.
In collaboration with Aldo Baerten, Peter plays a pivotal role in organizing the International Flute Seminar Bruges, a dynamic event that inspires and motivates flute and piccolo players of all ages and levels through individual lessons, workshops, masterclasses, and chamber music.
