The name Oscar Adler & Co. has long been associated with fine woodwind craftsmanship. Based in Markneukirchen, a small Saxon town famed for its instrument makers, the company’s roots stretch back to 1885 when it was founded by Franz Oscar Adler.
Adler came from a family deeply embedded in the trade — his father and grandfather were both instrument makers — and he continued this legacy with remarkable success. Before long, the business had expanded beyond its modest beginnings in the family home and workshop, employing more than fifty skilled workers.
At the turn of the twentieth century, Oscar Adler & Co. had become Germany’s foremost woodwind manufacturer, producing an extensive range of instruments including clarinets, flutes, oboes, English horns, and bassoons. In 1901, saxophones were added to the company’s growing portfolio.
Production still continues in Markneukirchen, upholding the same commitment to quality that began with Franz Oscar Adler’s vision over a century ago.
