Description

Nielsen Concerto-Flute and Piano-Edition Wilhelm Hansen

Nielsen Concerto-Flute and Piano-Edition Wilhelm Hansen Danish musician, conductor and also violinist, Carl Nielsen is widely recognised as his country’s most prominent composer. He wrote an array of chamber music, symphonies, operas and concertos. The Nielsen Flute Concerto was written in 1926 for Holger Gilbert-Jespersen.  Overall it received a good reception at its premiere in Paris in October 1926. The concerto consists of two movements.  For the most part, the first movement bases its material around conversation between the flute and the accompaniment, being piano or orchestra. The second movement opens with a nasty beginning, swiftly relaxing the tension with the playful entry of the flute.  The whole piece concludes very pleasantly with a fading accompaniment, leaving the cheerful flute making one last statement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVY3sGpqCJE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3nBPUNoxDE
