Kapustin Sonata-Flute and Piano-Schott
Kapustin Sonata-Flute and Piano-Schott (ED22998) The Sonata Op. 125 for flute and piano was written in 2004 at the request of Immanuel Davis, flute professor at the University of Minnesota. Nikolai Kapustin, born in 1937, is regarded as pioneer of the Soviet jazz scene. In his music he combines typical jazz idioms with classical forms. After graduating from the Moscow Conservatory in 1961, Kapustin became a member of the Oleg Lundstrem Big Band. Around 1972 he moved on to working with the radio orchestra for 5 years, then with the cinema orchestra for 7 years and in the early 80’s, established himself as a full time composer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpNBOWfU5yY
