James L. Hosay
James L. Hosay, born in 1959 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, USA, is a highly accomplished musician and composer.
After joining the United States Army as a trumpeter, he pursued his musical education at the Music School of the U.S. Armed Forces. Following his initial military service, he became a renowned staff arranger and composer for the prestigious United States Army Band (Pershing’s Own) in Washington, D.C. His exceptional arrangements graced performances of notable artists like Patti Labelle, Amy Grant, Reba McEntire, and Lee Greenwood, captivating audiences including foreign dignitaries and the President of the United States.
Hosay’s composition skills were in high demand for significant events, including the re-inauguration of the Washington Monument, Capitol Hill ceremonies, and the 50th anniversary of NATO attended by world leaders. Recognized for his outstanding contributions, he received two Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, and a commendation letter from General Colin Powell, the then Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for a special march composed for Powell’s Retirement Ceremony.
