Composer-Leos Janacek
Czech composer, Leoš Janáček, (1854-1928) is one of the greatest 20th Century operatic composers. He also wrote a number of works including choral, chamber, instrumental and orchestral works amongst other pieces.
From 1881-1888, he directed the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and became a professor of composition at the Prague Conservatory in 1919.
He was deeply inspired by folk music. Some of his later works were influenced by French impressionistic composers, but he always maintained his own unique Czech style of composition.
