It is therefore recommended that you try the headjoint either in our testing room at All Flutes Plus or by pre-arranged trial within the comfort of your own home.
Howel Roberts
Howel Roberts began his flutemaking career in 1974 at the Flutemakers Guild in London under renowned maker Harry Seeley. There, he crafted a range of instruments in silver, gold, and wood developing an early fascination for wooden flutes. After moving to Germany in 1979, he worked at Max Hieber’s workshop in Munich, refining his skills across the entire flute family and expanding his expertise in toolmaking, acoustics, and woodwind mechanics. In 1994, after 20 years of building instruments for others, Roberts founded his own company, creating flutes to his own standards. His long-standing passion for wooden instruments led him to specialise in wooden flutes and headjoints, using tonewoods he began collecting and seasoning in the early 1980s.
