Hoffmeister Sonata in G Major Opus 21/3-Flute and Piano-Schott (Flute and Piano/Flute and Basso Continuo) German composer, Franz Anton Hoffmeister (1757-1812) began studying law in Vienna. Following his studies, however, he went into a career in music. He later became one of the city’s most popular composers. He composed a vast array of music including eight operas, over 50 symphonies, numerous concertos, string chamber music, piano music and several songs. Hoffmesiter also wrote more than 25 concertos for flute as well as chamber works with the flute in a leading role.
