Franco Cesarini

Franco Cesarini, a talented Swiss composer and conductor, developed a strong passion for music from an early age. At just seven, he joined Bellinzona’s children’s choir, displaying an uncanny ability to recreate music on the piano without formal training. He nurtured a fondness for the flute after attending a concert by flautist Peter-Lukas Graf at 11.

As he delved into musical creation, he found inspiration in composers like Debussy and Bartók, fueling his enthusiasm for composition. Cesarini pursued piano and flute studies at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatoire in Milan. Over time, his love for the flute led him to the class of Peter-Lukas Graf at Basel Conservatoire.

Alongside his flute studies, he immersed himself in conducting and composition, graduating in all three fields. Under the guidance of his mentors, Robert Suter and Felix Hauswirth, Cesarini honed his skills and discipline in composition and conducting.

His career flourished, becoming a renowned conductor and professor of wind conducting at Zurich Conservatoire. Cesarini’s fascination with wind orchestras led to a prolific collaboration with the Dutch publishing house De Haske, spreading his works worldwide.

He conducted prestigious orchestras and earned recognition through competitions and international performances. In 2021, he established Edition Franco Cesarini to independently publish his compositions and share his creativity with music enthusiasts worldwide.
