Cimarosa Concerto in G Major-Two Flutes and Piano-Southern Music (HL03773853 / reduction and cadenzas Louis Moyse – Playing Score)

Originally composed by Cimarosa (1749-1801) for two flutes and orchestra, Louis Moyse revised this piano reduction version and wrote cadenzas for the flutes. It may be performed with two flutes or flute and oboe. Chamber orchestra and piano reduction versions are available from the publisher. Movements: I. Allegro Vivo, II. Lento, III. Rondo

Domenico Cimarosa was born in Aversa (near Naples, Italy), on December 17th, 1749. He composed over eighty operas during his lifetime, and lived and worked in Naples, Venice, Rome, Florence, Vienna, and Saint Petersburg (at the invitation of Catherine the Great). Cimarosa died in Venice, on December 11th, 1801, and is buried in Campo San Angelo near the calle de Caffetier.
