Chaminade Three Pieces-Alry
Chaminade Three Pieces-Alry
Flute and Piano
Alry Publications
Arranged by Joras, Dana H
These Three Pieces by Cecile Chaminade were originally written for solo piano but lend themselves very well to a flute accompanied by piano. In addition to making an excellent suite, each of the pieces works just as well on their own.
1 – L’Ondine 2 – La Lisonjera 3 – Waltz
Cecile Chaminade
French composer, Cécile Louise Stéphanie Chaminade (1857-1944) was also a renowned pianist. She studied composition privately with Benjamin Godard as her father would not allow her to attend a music conservatoire. As a solo pianist, she proved popular with audiences in both the UK and the USA alike. She gave her debut London performance in 1892 and her American debut in 1908 performing a composition of hers with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She continued to perform in numerous concert tours across the UK and USA. Chaminade’s compositional output includes numerous piano works and songs, an opera, orchestral suites, a ballet and the much loved ‘Concertino Opus 107’ for flute and piano, amongst other works.
