About
This piece was written in 1981 and dedicated to Fung Chin-Wan. Inspired by a painting by the Hong Kong artist Fung Chin-Wan, forms part of a series of three works for flute and piano, the other two being Bali Moods No. 1 and Red Sun, Chill Wind. Suitable for advanced players, this piece explores the varied characteristics of Balinese moods and modes.
Anne Boyd
Boyd graduated from the University of Sydney in 1967 and the University of York in England with a PhD in composition in 1972. A highly respected composer and music educator, Anne Boyd became the first Australian and the first woman to be appointed Professor of Music at the University of Sydney. Her compositions take inspiration from the landscape and Aboriginal themes juxtaposed with Asian traditions.
