Borne Carmen Fantasie-Flute and Piano-Billaudot (Edited by Jean Pierre Rampal)
About
Borne Carmen Fantasie is a fantastic, virtuosic showpiece for flute and piano based on themes from Bizet’s Carmen. Lasting for a duration of 10 minutes, this piece is suitable for advanced players.
François Borne
Flautist and composer, François Borne (1840–1920), played with the orchestra of Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux and was a professor at the Conservatoire de Musique de Toulouse. Borne was also responsible for his work and contribution to the technical improvements of the modern-day flute.
Georges Bizet
Bizet was a French composer, mainly of operas. He was one of the most gifted musicians of the 19th century, best known for his operas in a career cut short by his early death. Bizet achieved few successes before his final work, Carmen, which has become one of the most popular and frequently performed works in the entire opera repertoire.
