He built a dazzling career as a solo flautist and orchestral player and was regarded as one of the foremost flute players of his generation. In addition to his flute-playing career, Taffanel also conducted the Paris Opera and The Société des Concerts du Conservatoire.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRegarded as the founder of the French Flute School, Taffanel revised the Paris Conservatoire’s repertoire and teaching methods when he became Professor of Flute at the Conservatoire in 1893.
