He studied clarinet, bass clarinet, piano, and composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying with professors, Yona Ettlinger, Stephen Trier, Meriel Jefferson, and Patric Standford.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJames Rae’s performances have spanned West End and Royal National Theatre productions, including the renowned ‘Oresteia’ with music by Sir Harrison Birtwistle. He has also collaborated with leading orchestras and ensembles, notably participating in the EMI album ‘Classic Ellington’ conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and the C.B.S.O. He also leads the Phoenix Saxophone Quartet\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs a highly published composer, James Rae has created over 200 educational wind music compositions.
