His final playing position was as 1st Piccolo in the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. During his time in Berlin, he frequently had the privilege of performing as a guest with the Berlin Philharmonic in both concerts and recordings, under H. v. Karajan and other renowned conductors. Mr. Lafin has always been profoundly inspired by the exceptional quality of this orchestra, which has significantly shaped his sensitivity to sound.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 1979, he decided to learn flute repair, as there was no one in Berlin specialising in this field. This eventually led him to Japan, where he underwent extensive training at the Muramatsu factory. Through his interactions with numerous flautists, he frequently heard criticism about head joints—except when the player owned one made by Albert Cooper.
