Pergolesi gained recognition as a violinist during his time at the Conservatorio dei Poveri in Naples around 1720. In 1732, he was appointed as the maestro di cappella to the prince of Stigliano in Naples.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePergolesi’s health declined, and in 1736, at the age of 26, he sought refuge in the Franciscan monastery in Pozzuoli near Naples.
