From the mid-1940s onwards, he wrote extensively across vocal, choral, orchestral and chamber repertoire, including works for flute, viola, cello and organ.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis musical language remained strongly influenced by the late-Romantic tradition, particularly composers such as Rachmaninov, Sibelius and Franck, at a time when much contemporary music was moving in very different directions.
