His Sonata for Flute and Piano and Gargoyles for Piano have become standard repertoire, recorded over twenty times on CD.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe has received commissions from prestigious ensembles like the Philadelphia Orchestra, Emerson Quartet, and flautist Sir James Galway. The full-length ballet “Frankenstein” was jointly commissioned by London’s Royal Ballet and the San Francisco Ballet, and released on Blu-Ray and DVD.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLiebermann has composed two full-length operas: “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” the first American opera commissioned and premiered by l’Opéra de Monte-Carlo, and “Miss Lonelyhearts,” commissioned by the Juilliard School to celebrate its 100th anniversary.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe served as Composer-in-Residence for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan, among others. In 2012, he joined Mannes School of Music at the New School, founding the Mannes American Composers Ensemble and becoming the head of Mannes’s Composition Department in the following year.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLiebermann’s exceptional achievements earned him awards, including the Charles Ives Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, recognition from ASCAP and BMI, and a Grammy nomination.
