He apprenticed with Jack Goosman in Toronto for 3 years and then worked for Verne Q. Powell Flutes for 10 years. He earned a BMus from the University of British Columbia prior to relocating to Britain, where he achieved a PhD from the University of London. Robert embarked on a professional flute-playing career spanning numerous years, eventually transitioning into flute making. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRenowned for his expertise, he is also recognised as an accomplished author and scholar in the realm of flutes and their manufacture. He served as the editor of the British Flute Society's journal for a five-year period.
