He was best known for his operatic works such as ‘\u003cem\u003eOrfeo ed Euridice’\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003eand also wrote ballets, sinfonias, a flute concerto, violin concerto, trio sonatas, songs and sacred vocal works.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAround 1735, he studied composition with Italian organist and composer Giovanni Battista Sammartini. During this four-year period of study, he learnt the new Italian compositional writing style for instrumental music.
