Mind your fingers was developed out of the intensive care with the extreme registers of the flute. The main goal is to make the player aware of his finger's movements, especially in the third octave where the fingerings are complicated and are not easily automated by the brain. Every flutist knows the phenomenon when quick passages suddenly appear as black lines. Epstein wants to enlighten these black lines and has therefore developed special practising techniques.
