Through a continuous interplay of multiple trills, the flautist skillfully conjures illusions of multiple performers and their spatial presence within the room. Notably, this piece held the distinction of being the sole American composition featured on the repertoire list for the prestigious 1990 Munich International Competition.

Composer: Robert Dick

Robert Dick-Flautist/Composer

Robert Dick, born and raised in New York City, started playing the flute as a child after hearing it on the radio in the Top 40 hit “Rockin’ Robin.” He later went on to study with Henry Zlotnik, James Pappoutsakis, Julius Baker, and Thomas Nyfenger.

Robert attended Yale College, where he earned a B.A. degree.
