He was also a Professor of flute at the Paris Conservatoire. As well as being an active flute player on the Paris playing scene, he also played bassoon at the Paris Opera.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe wrote around 300 works mainly for wind instruments. These comprise of 12 flute concertos, woodwind sinfonia, 5 bassoon concertos, 6 bassoon sonatas, 6 oboe sonatas and numerous trios and quartets for various combinations. He also wrote 12 operas amongst other works.
