Tromlitz Sonata in C Major-Flute and Piano-Schott Johann George Tromlitz was a German flautist, flute maker and composer. His impressive playing produced strong, trumpet like tones, which made him stand out. However, not liking the German flutes of the time, he started making his own. He was the first flute maker to add 8 keys to the flute. The flute at this time already had a D# and a G# key. Tromlitz firstly added a thumb key for C and two keys for F, later adding a long Bb thumb key. All of these furthered by Theobald Boehm in his system.
