Jayson Mackie
Composer/flautist. Jayson Mackie was born in Cardiff in 1975.
Jayson made history by becoming the first person to pursue composition as a principal study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD (1997 to 2000). They further honed their skills, achieving first-class honours and a distinction in composition during their MMus studies from 2002 to 2004.
In 1998, Jayson represented RWCMD at the ISCM Music Days, where their Wind Quintet received its premiere at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Mackie taught composition at RWCMD from 2005 to 2010. Jayson’s works have been published by renowned music publishers, including Spartan Press, Warwick Music, Cascade Music Publishing, Peacock Press, Recital Music, and Oriana Publications.
