A beautiful two-movement work for flute and piano by Gabriel Grovlez. Suitable for advanced players, this challenging piece was a competition piece for the Paris Competition annual prize in 1927.

Gabriel Grovlez

French Composer Gabriel Grovlez (1879-1944) studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Descombes, Kaiser, Gédalge, Diémer, Lavignac and Fauré. He was Professor of piano at the Schola Cantorum from 1899-1909, choirmaster/conductor at the Opéra-Comique (1905 to 1908) and music director at the Théâtre des Arts (1911). In 1914, he was appointed conductor of the Opéra which he held for 20 years, whilst also conducting other productions Monte Carlo, Lisbon, Cairo, New York and Chicago. In 1939, he became a Professor of Chamber Music at the Paris Conservatoire.
