“Greensleeves” stands as a timeless English folk song. Registered in September 1580 as “A Newe Northen Dittye of ye Ladye Greene Sleves,” it was a broadside ballad by Richard Jones at the London Stationer’s Company. The captivating tune can be traced back to the late 16th and early 17th centuries
Jan Valta-Arranger
Jan Valta (born 1977) is a versatile musician with a background in violin and conducting. He graduated from the Teplice Conservatoire and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Since 2005, Jan has been actively involved in arranging and composing music. He is also a skilled music director and editor.
Currently, Jan is working on the soundtrack for the upcoming RPG game “Kingdom Come: Deliverance” developed by Warhorse Studios in Prague.
His compositions encompass various genres, including works for symphony orchestra, wind orchestra, songs, chamber music, big band charts, and music for television series. Notably, he composed a symphonic soundtrack for the imaginary film “FULCANELLI,” based on his own story, which he conducted and recorded.
In addition to composing, Jan has created numerous arrangements for chamber ensembles, symphony orchestras, big bands, and crossover projects. He regularly collaborates with Editions Marc Reift in Switzerland, writing arrangements and new compositions while also serving as a publishing editor for the company.
Jan has worked with renowned artists in the opera world, such as Thomas Hampson, Ildebrando D’Arcangello, and Simon Keenlyside, creating symphonic arrangements through Nachtigall Artists concert agency. He also has extensive collaborations with China.
As a violinist, Jan was a member of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra for two seasons and has performed as a soloist in Europe and Japan. He co-founded the Herold Quartet in 1998, touring various European countries and beyond, recording five CDs and receiving the Czech Chamber Music Society Prize in 2001. The Quartet had the honor of performing with esteemed musician Josef Suk.
