About

This ‘Valse’ is the third movement from Godard’s three-movement piece ‘Suite de Trois Morceaux’ arranged for flute and piano.  This movement has a fun waltz-style feel and contains lyrical melodies and fast technical passages with some challenging sections throughout the movement.

Benjamin Louis Paul Godard

Godard (1849-1895) was a French violinist and Romantic-era composer. In 1863, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire Godard under Henri Vieuxtemps (violin) and Napoléon Henri Reber (harmony). His compositional output included eight operas, five symphonies, two piano concertos, two violin concertos, string quartets, violin and piano sonatas, piano works and a multitude of songs. He later became a Professor at the Paris Conservatoire in 1887.
