Two Sketches for Flute and Piano, which is made up of two movements. The first of these, Night on the Plain, conveys many technical features, including flourishing semiquaver passages, a wide range, lyricism, intervals, chromaticism and complex rhythms. Night on the Plain from Two Sketches is a challenging yet exciting piece for aspiring flautists.
Gaubert Deux Esquisses-Flute and Piano – 2 – Orientale Deux Esquisses for Flute and Piano, which is made up of two movements. The second of these, Oriental, conveys many technical features including flourishing semiquaver passages, a wide range, lyricism, intervals, chromaticism and complex rhythms. Oriental from Deux Esquisses is a challenging yet exciting piece for aspiring flautists.
French musician, Philippe Gaubert was a distinguished flautist, respected conductor, and also a composer, primarily for the flute. He held a prominent career as a flautist with the Paris Opéra, and later established himself as: Professor of flute at the Conservatoire de Paris (professor of Marcel Moyse), Principal conductor of the Paris Opéra and Principal conductor of the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire.
