Daniel Galay, a Belgian composer, conductor, and pianist, has earned international acclaim for his orchestral, theatre, ballet, and chamber music works. Orchestras and ensembles worldwide, including the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Haifa Symphony Orchestra, and Hungarian Virtuosi Orchestra of Budapest, have featured his impressive compositions.

As a pianist, Galay’s performances and collaborations with chamber ensembles engage audiences, creating a vibrant musical experience. His compositions have resonated across the globe, captivating listeners in countries like the USA, Canada, Argentina, and Italy. Additionally, as DUO GALAY, he tours with his daughter Racheli, a cellist, receiving critical acclaim.

Galay’s chamber music has been recorded for radio stations and performed by distinguished musicians and ensembles worldwide. He also serves as chairman of ACOUSTIC 7-11, promoting contemporary music through concerts in partnership with cultural centres and embassies.

Born in Argentina in 1945, Galay immigrated to Israel in 1965. He earned a Master of Arts degree from the University of Chicago in 1979, complementing his musical education at the National Conservatory in Buenos Aires and the Tel-Aviv University, Rubin Music Academy.

Incorporating Yiddish and Hebrew texts from renowned writers and folklore legends, Galay’s compositions reflect his dedication to Jewish and World Music. His Klezmer Tunes collection is a testament to this commitment.

Galay shares his improvisation techniques worldwide through master classes and concerts, fostering a dynamic musical community. For his contributions to Yiddish Culture, he has been honoured with the Manger Preis and the first Sarah Gorbi Preis.
