Bill Holcombe
Holcombe gained his primary reputation as an arranger and composer of session/orchestral music. Alongside this, he pursued a parallel career as a professional woodwind doubler for many years.
In 1941, Bill studied composition at the University of Pennsylvania in 1941. In addition to his compositional studies, he also studied at the Juilliard in New York.
After World War II, Bill returned to Penn and financed his college education by playing with local big bands and arranging music for them. Upon graduating Bill headed to New York City to obtain his AFM 802 card and establish himself in the well-paying staff radio and recording industry.
